Company Profile
The activitys at AnagnosTec is mainly focused on the development of novel MALDI-TOF mass spectrometrie techniques in the fields of biotechnology, clinical microbiology, industrial microbiology, food analysis and on the development of intelligent software solutions to handle and interpret mass spectrometric data.
AnagnosTec was founded in 1998 as a spin-off from the University of Technology, Berlin. The company offers services, contract research and products for bioanalytical applications based on MALDI-TOF Mass Spectrometry.
AnagnosTec's staff currently consists of 10 employees. Among our latest products are a new rapid technique for the direct analysis of secondary metabolites from unfractionated cells or tissue probes, as well as the determination of molecular masses and structure elucidation using Post Source Decay (PSD). Other recent applications include the rapid characterisation and classification of whole microorganisms by Intact-Cell-MALDI-TOF Mass Spectrometry. Anagnostec's SARAMIS system analyses MALDI-TOF fingerprint mass spectra to identify the microorganism with the best database match. The dendrogram feature classifies unknown isolates into a taxonomic tree and dereplicates duplicate strains simultaneously to improve drug discovery processes. Large microbial strain collections can be screened in high-troughput by using an in-house-built biohandling robot designed to pick microbial colonies from agar plates and to transfer the biomass to the MALDI target plate.
Major equipment and special laboratory facilities
In addition to standard facilities to perform bioanalytical experiments, AnagnosTec has some special facilities, including a Shimadzu AXIMA Confidence MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer and SARAMIS (Spectral ARchiving And Microbial Identification System), a high-end system for the classification of microorganisms. AnagnosTec also owns large databases with reference spectra, a pipetting robot and a microorganism picking robot to transfer organisms from agar plates to the MALDI template.
Special laboratories: S2 laboratory.
