Services in microbial identification using MALDI@SARAMIS
Since several years MALDI-TOF MS is the state of the art technology for identification of any bacteria and fungi in microbial applications. Key benefits are shortest time to result, extremely cost saving, reliable results and great flexibility.
AnagnosTec offers identification of bacteria and fungi for a small price per determination from agar plate, swab, or MALDI target using its proprietary SARAMIS – the innovative MALDI-TOF MS based method for identification of microorganisms.
Material to be analyzed by SARAMIS is prepared by customers on MALDI targets using the new
SARAMIS Run-it-Box and following a Multi Media sample preparation guideline. Targets allow for easy and inexpensive shipment of readily prepared samples.
Together with the prepared samples, a target file has to be provided containing the information for each spot on the target that is necessary to trace all samples unambiguously. This is, for example, an internal sample number, patient ID, etc. The sample information is either entered in a SARAMIS Excel spreadsheet or, more conveniently, directly in to the Target Manager of the SARAMIS Satellite. Target files are transferred electronically to AnagnosTec. Both, sample preparation and compilation of target files is easily achieved after a short training and take only a few seconds per sample. AnagnosTec provides SARAMIS training and tools for sample preparation and target file compilation.
The SARAMIS Satellite consists of an easy-to-use target manager and a SARAMIS viewer for approval and release of identification results and transfer to the customers’ LIMS.
To start with SARAMIS identification we suggest to send samples on agar plates or swabs. This is a first step towards using MALDI-TOF MS based identification of microorganisms.
To benefit from the advantages of MALDI based identification in the users’ laboratories we recommend participating in AnagnosTec’s training sessions for sample preparation and use of SARAMIS in its full extend. After this training and installation of SARAMIS Satellite software license users are enabled to prepare MALDI targets in their own laboratories for shipment to AnagnosTec in best practice workflow.
In any cases, full results and reports are available to SARAMIS customers in real-time for further use. Users without SARAMIS Satellite installation in their laboratories will receive results and reports via e-mail in short term.
Results are for research use only (RUO).
