How does it work
Samples are processed identically to traditional cultivation methods. Sub-colony amounts of biomass grown on agar plates are picked and transferred to a MALDI-TOF sample plate by your medical assistant or using our automated MIROB-system. Automatic measurement and identification with SARAMIS takes only about 2 minutes. MALDI-TOF SARAMIS characterizes the phenotype of the isolate with a fingerprint spectrum, which represents the proteins of the cell with the highest concentration. Detected proteins are predominately from the ribosome
MALDI-TOF MS / SARAMIS offers several advantages:
- Standardized process for bacteria and fungi
- Multi-colony processing possible
- The whole process from sample preparation to results takes less than two minutes
- New strains are classified in dendrograms
- Provides additional information on phenotype characteristics
- Existing MALDI-TOF equipment can typically be used; upgrades might be required for certain applications
SARAMIS solutions are proven in several applications
SARAMIS has been tested and validated in cooperation with renowned partners. The system is currently being used by firms and institutions such as Sanofi-Aventis Pharma Germany and DSMZ German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures.
